Car Care Tip: What's that smell coming from my car?
6 smells coming from your car that should be a warning sign to get your car to a Salem care repair shop!

1. Burnt Rubber Smell
That smell could be drive belts slipping or moving parts rubbing up against rubber hoses. 
Caution: Do not reach into the engine area when the engine is hot or running.

2. Hot or Burning Oil Smell
The smell of hot or burning oil could mean that the oil is leaking onto exhaust system or other hot part of the engine.  To check for the leak look the oil on your driveway or smoke coming from the engine area.
Caution: Turn off the engine before checking for a leak & don't touch while engine or exhaust are still hot. 

3. Smell of Gasoline
The smell of Gasoline is most likely a gas leak in the gas line, fuel injector line or gas tank.
Caution: Any smell of gasoline is a potential fire hazard so immediate attention should be taken.

4. The Sweet Smell of Syrup
This smell could be a sign that the car is leaking engine coolant. 
Caution: Do not open a radiator cap when it is hot! 
5. Burning Carpet Smell
Could be brake trouble.  Get your brakes checked right away!
