Why People Steal Catalytic Converters

You're not alone if you've ever had your catalytic converter stolen. In recent years, catalytic converter theft has become increasingly common, with thieves targeting cars in parking lots and driveways.

So, why do thieves steal catalytic converters? And how can you protect your car from this type of theft?

The answer to the first question is simple: money. A catalytic converter contains precious metals like palladium and rhodium, which can be sold for a high price. In fact, a thief can make hundreds of dollars by selling a stolen catalytic converter on the black market.

The answer to the second question is a little more complex. You can do a few things to protect your car from catalytic converter theft, including parking in a well-lit area, parking in a garage or carport if possible, and engraving your vehicle identification number (VIN) on the converter. You can also invest in an anti-theft device.

Catalytic converter theft is on the rise. Taking these precautions can help deter thieves and keep your catalytic converter safe.
